In essence, Barenaked Ladies is flooding the DL community with files that begin with the song and then end up being an advertisement. Not too cool... I see others doing the same. It can be easily combatted I guess by Napster DLers as long as they listen to what they DL and delete the advertisements. But this is a simple and ingenious way to dilute Napster DLs.

Perhaps Barenaked Ladies should realize that this does not necessarily endear them to their public, who should show their displeasure by not purchasing their new CD. I've already placed them on the "Losing respect for" pile along with Metallica.

On the other hand there are bands like The Offspring (http://www.offspring.com) that will realease their new album online first!

Am I the only one that thinks BNL has a good idea? It makes me want to seek out these MP3s just to hear what they have to say. At least they're not trying to shut Napster down.

All they will accomplish is wasting peoples time! I would rather see Napster shut down than have people doing this.


Why don't they do like The Offspring? Are they really that concerned about the few dollars they would lose or gain? Or are they so insecure about their crappy music like Metallica is? They can not even prove that they lose any money! I am willing to bet that just about any band that is against MP3's will lose sales and fans.

People are tired of CD's nowadays. They want MP3's and MP3 players (portable), not a stack of CD's. Any band against MP3's is in for a long, punic war against napster. They might win, but they'll lose a LOT of respect.
