Win ME scandisk ****!

Hi I would like to stop win me from starting scandisk everytime i restart my pc.

I've tried using programs like x-teq and winboost and some freeware but i they only work with the dos-based version of scandisk
(win 95/98/98se).

This scandisk starts loading when your allready in the win gui environment (with a beautifull pic of the grand canyon on my background. But before logging on to the network.

Does anyone know of a way to kill this type of scandisk??

have you tried to run msconfig yet to shut it down?

yes but i can't find the line responsible for scandisk.

When your in the system configuration utility, hit the advanced button. There is a setting there "disable scandisk after improper shutdown".
Taking care of the problem causing the bad shutdown would be a better solution IMO.

i agree with Dave you have to take car of the problem of it haveing a bad shut down as Scandisk will not run if you shut it down the way it is meant to shut down try doing a reinstall over top of windows that is there now that my fix your shut down problem

it does it even with a proper system shutdown beats me why but thanks for the solution guys!!
