dailing through modem

i have recently installed modem on my new nt server , but after many attemots
i am unable to dial my ISP , what it does is it just gives me the
dial tone and does not dial the number.
what could be the possible reason??

You can test your modem by simply dialling a local phone number and see if it goes through. Also, under dial up or modem options you have to have tick on - to connect and dial out only + you can try to add x3 into additional command (to wake up and reset the modem).
