Can anyone recommend a really good A+ book. I looked over the QUE version and didn't care for it. I've heard that some places teach with one they like better. Just looking for some suggestions please. I don't want to take the class, only buy the book and pay for the test.

I am currently studying for the test and am using A + Certification Study Guide second edition from McGrawHill/Syngress/Osborne I chose this one because it comes with a lot of test questions on the included CD ROM.
I also have A + Exam Cram Personal Trainer,
which brings the Exam Cram Book along with testing software.

The book I was issued at the college I am taking an MSCE course is:
A+ Certification Concepts and Practice 2nd Edition by Charles Brooks. Que E&T.

Also heard that a Mike Meyers book is excellent. Dont quote me on the spelling.
I do both tests on Monday...good luck to you fellow A+ techie.

to explain the best I can, a+ is a computer certification on software and hardware - the technical support kind of stuff. a+ isn't really valuable...it's so common and most ppl can get it easily. then there're ccna which is more valuable (not really sure..but it has to do with networking and cisco) and then there's the holy grail of them all: ccie (also a cisco and network/router thing).

Shadow,

Thanks for the file!

And to Emperor_Nero - I disagree that A+ is easy to get, unless you study well like anything else and if it is something one really enjoys then it is easy. Its value
will be felt after all the hard work that one would put into getting it.
I reccomend this and/or other certifications to anybody who loves computers and I assume that is all who read this cool board http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

Passed the core with 596 and dos/win with 619 today. Neither was that hard really.
Only 20 questions each and who knows how they grade em...makes no sense to me that someone can get em all correct and not get full marks. I believe I got 2 or 3 wrong on each test.

It does feel good to accomplish something, get a certificate finally.
Now onto the next one!
