got several out of memory/ can' allocate memory, and not sure if that's entirely or only partially due to this. (it's on an older computer that doesn't have much disk space left for virtual memory - probably around 40 MB or so. I have 128 MB of RAM on this particular machine.
when i do a ctrl-alt-del to see what's running, i noticed notepad is running, which i never launched. i close it, and it's not responding. also, there was never any indication on the desktop, taskbar or even the launch tray that it was even rnning. So i close it, and suddenly, i can launch programs again - before that i got "can't allocate memory errors".
i investigated how it came to be running in the first place. Nothing in the start menu, but look what i found in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run
"startIE"="C:\\WINDOWS\\NOTEPAD.EXE qazwsx.hsq"
i deleted it, and some time later, it was there again. (like probably a month or so later) this pc is on a home network of 5 computers. is it some weird virus? anyone know?
