Epson 1280 if you want wide carriage, Epson Stylus Photo 785epx if you don't care about wide printers.

Some reasons:
- reviews seem to put it having better photos than HP and Lexmark.
- 6 ink not 4.

Only problem with Epsons is that the print head stays in the printer and they are prone to clogging. I have found the HP 800 or better series very good at photo reporduction and every tiime you change the ink you are changing the heads. On the plus side for the epsons, the inks are easy to refill but the Hp's are not as easy. Just my humble opinion and having owned both Epson and HP printers.

If you're looking for an inkjet printer that can turn out high quality photos, then the HP 900 series is the best bet. That or their newer Photosmart series as well if you want to print directly from the memory card of a digital camera (Smartmedia and Compact Flash only). The newer Epson photo stylus printers (not color stylus) can beat the HP by a marginal amount in terms of sheer photo quality. But the HP's will get done faster and use less ink in the process, and they will clobber the Epsons in graphics and text quality.

Now if you're going for just photo printing, then the Epson may be the best choice if you're looking to save dolla bills. But if you want higher quality, you can go to some color laser printers, or for the best, turn to the dye sublimation printers. The latter of the two has the highest possible photo quality out there, but it also carries with it the highest cost.

Have been using a 952C HP for about six months now and can`t find a thing to whine about. Everything about it is very vey good.
Things I like:
1. Superb color reproduction.
2. Ink cartridges are the print heads, so when
ink clogging occurs, just replace the carts.
3. Very high monthly duty cycle, indicating commercial
quality.
4. Good driver support.
5. More than fast enough.
6. Low ink consumption.
Overall, a very accomplished printer for less than $200.00.

Wow!

Thanks all... really good input.

I was looking at the new Epson 890 for $269 at Amazon but your comments about the print heads sure makes sense, so I think I'll start looking for a deal on the HPs.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond, it is greatly appreaciated.

Hey Grimbo, I hate to rain on your parade because you do have a great printer there. I just hope that they made it obvious that you'll be forced to pay more for black ink than other HP 900 series owners will have to pay. Yours only accepts the No. 15 black ink cartridge which is the same physical size as the No. 45 black ink cartridge but only has 25ml of ink as compared to the 42ml of ink that the No. 45 has. The cartridges have nearly identical costs with the No. 15 sometimes costing more per cartridge than the No. 45.

But it is a printer of awesome quality, and doesn't it have that "one-touch printjob cancel" button?

I wish I'd know that b4 I bought it. I found it at a good price and I just couldn't pass it up.

Guess I'll worry about that later. :o

Almost forgot to answer your question. Yes it does. Haven't had a need to use it yet tho. :)

If you can wait till Staples gets the HP 895cse back in stock it's the premium "poor mans" printer.

http://www.staples.com/Catalog/Browse/sku.asp?PageType=1&Sku=378057&bcFlag=True&bcSCatId=3&bcSCatName=Technology&bcCatId=44&bcCatName=Printers+%26+Multifunction+Machines&bcClassId=40300&bcClassName=InkJet+Printers

The carts are reasonable, the same ones used in the 712, 722, 1220 and several others.. CR1823g for about $26(color) black for about $22 when you're lucky.
The 900 series printers cheaT you a bit on the ink, for the full capacity cartridge, they are about $58 Retail,, ugghh, bad.

Another good choice is the Epson 880, Staples has em for $79.98 not enough to use a coupon from www.jumpondeals.com (thanks deloo) but grab some ink carts to boost the figure, and actually get them for just about free.
Dell don't have any killer deals on printers just now, surprise.

The Epson C60 looks interesting, haven't read any reviews(the 880 reads great) After rebate and a coupon it's about $65

I don't suppose it's possible to re-fill them? I've re-filled the ones on my old printer.

A continuous feed system for epson printers:

You should be able to refil any catridge, with epson ones you sometimes need to reset the catridge since they track the ink level themselves.
