I was just wondering if this is a good deal for a 40 Gig HD. Seagate 40 GB 5400 RPM UATA/100.
You can see it here (http://www.nexthardwareshop.com/seag40uat54.html)

You can get a better drive for $103. It's an IBM 40GB 7200RPM - Deskstar 60GXP Ultra ATA/100. I have one and it is fast and very quiet. If you look at all the reviews this one is usually rated the best drive available. Here is the link:

Yes, it is a good price for 40gb but it has a 512k buffer which is 1/4 what most 40gb drives have today. If the money is your main concern I'd go for it.

Price is good at $75, a lot of Mb's for the money!
Downside is that this is a slow drive, and shipping is up there at around $14.
If storage space is the paramount thing, go for it!
If performance is important go with the IBM and save at least $5 on shipping!
