Has anyone been successful in making clear phone calls through the internet? If so what kind of modem is required? What other factors are important?

NDC 09-15-2000, 08:23 AM I always use yahoo voice chat to talk to my buddy who is in another country 12,000 miles away and we both use cable modems, there is a slight delay in the voice (depending on the cable traffic), but the quality is pretty good. Using a 56K modem will make the voice cut off, making it kinda annoying. That was my experience with 56k modem. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by NDC (edited 09-15-2000).] jpheg 09-17-2000, 07:29 AM I got MediaRing Talk 2000 with my SB-Live card. I suggest you give that a try. thekingofpain 09-17-2000, 09:33 AM Give dialpad a try, works great for me... www.dialpad.com (http://www.dialpad.com) jad1097 09-17-2000, 10:06 AM Dialpad works great for me also. I use a cable modem though. pickel 09-18-2000, 03:12 PM Just got off the phone myself. Called up to Illinois and upstate Mississippi using MSN Messenger. Much better than Dial pad. Connects quickly and is very clear. Not as well as talking on the telephone. But I still have to invest in a good headphone set. Computer mike and speakers give an noticable echo. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif SysOpt.com
