On my KA266
Is it the Bios, mobo (Northbridge chip), both combined, or none of what I typed?
Just one of those questions I am dumbfounded on. I was looking at the diagram of what all goes into the Northbridge in my owners manual for the KA266.
The actual switching voltage regulator for the Vcore is on the motherboard. This voltage regulator is adjustable, so it needs to be told which voltage produce. By default, most mobos read the Vid pins of the CPU to figure out which voltage is needed. Luckily, there are several ways to override the default voltage (overclockers rejoice!). Boards with "softmenu" style BIOSes allow a "User Defined" voltage to be selected. Other board may use jumpers to set the voltage. Many slotkets also have voltage jumpers as well. Note, however, that the voltage requested by a slotket can be overridden by the motherboard.
Clear as day or clear as mud?
