I want to have my IBM useing the Promise Ultra 100 controller onboard my A7V as C: Drive, and my old ata33 WD as d:
How do I set this up?
Right now, the WD is c: and the ibm is d:
I'll do a clean install if needs be.

I would try going into BIOS and under the boot sequence, have it boot off of the ATA/100 but take any reference to booting off of the normal IDE HD out of the boot sequence.

by default the asus a7v labels the boot drive c: I have an ibm hard drive on the ata100 controller and western digital on the regular ide port(as a secondary slave!). when i want to change boot drives(ibm is win98, and western digital is testbed for winme) i go to boot in bios and enable/disable western digital boot.

Promise cards (ATA66 at least) have to be set as SCSI devices in the BIOS. So, boot option 1- floppy, boot option 2- SCSI.

There are lots of programs you can use to duplicate the Western Digital drive's contents onto the new IBM drive. PowerQuest has DriveCopy or DriveImage, Norton has Ghost, or you could even use Western Digital's Data Lifeguard Tools (http://www.westerndigital.com/service/ftp/drives.html) to do it. After that, you'll need to change your BIOS settings to boot from the promise card instead of the mobo's IDE.
