I am trying to clean up a PC that I purchased used.
How can one remove the software's Program Name in the Control Panel's Remove Program list when the program was previously removed through other unorthodox means?
I'm using W98 2nd Ed.
Thank You!
the program was previously removed through other unorthodox means
And somewhat unorthodox means are used to fix this problem :)
<Disclaimer >Editing your registry can cause serious problems with your OS. This may require you to reinstall your OS. Proceed with this information at your own risk. I am not responsible for what happens. I am just posting information <End Disclaimer >
To edit your registry, go to Start>Run ... type in regedit
Look for HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uni nstall
where HKLM = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
To remove a program's entry in the Add/Remove Control Panel, delete the application's folder from under the Uninstall folder. That should remove it. I'm playing with this on my Win2k machine, but I'm pretty sure it's the same in 98SE.
Edit - Registry path got broken into two lines .... did it again, editing again ...
ok, see where it says "nstall" on the next line ... that should be with the rest of the reg path above, for some reason it doesn't want to go there. If one of the mods wants to fix this, i'd be grateful, because I can't get it to
