According to Abit's website along with most retail and wholesale sites, the KG7-RAID will support 950MHz-1.33 GHz. This feels like a dumb question, but will it support a 1.4 266 FSB as well? Will it overclock it to the 1.6 GHz that I've seen people raving that they've done easily??

Any advice before I order? Newegg.com has the KG7-RAID for $163 and the 1.4 Ghz for $119, both retail.

Don't know about the prices, but KG7 supports 1.4GHz 266MHz FSB pretty well.
In fact, KG7 should support any next-generation AMD CPUs (with possible BIOS update needed) as long they gonna use same pinout and be Socket A compatible.

If you dont need raid, then I suggest getting the KG7, if you dont plan on needing more than 2 DIMM slots I then suggest going for the KG7 Lite. Be smart and save money by getting what you really need. I picked up my KG7 Lite for $101. Beware though.....with the KG7 Lite(I have this model), you need to pair up FSB of both the cpu and the RAM i.e. If you have PC2100 (266MHz RAM)on a KG7Lite, you need to have a cpu with a FSB of 266MHz. That is the only downfall of the KG7Lite. I am getting my 1.4GHz tommorow, pending that FEDEX doesnt missort my cpu AGAIN(What a bunch of morons!!! I ordered my cpu fron NC and it ended up in GA. Then again, the same has happened at my job...UPS). It should overclock to 1.6 GHz. ABIT makes excellent boards, I have never used another up until 2 months ago(ECS K7S5A, very disappointing). ABIT boards are very stable, and they overclock well. I'll let you know late tommorow what I came up with when I pop in the cpu ok.

Do yourself a favor....get an AYHJA core....They overclock the best. I ordered mine from www.ICompz.com Mention the pricewatch price, but they will charge you about $12 more than the listed pricewatch price because its a great overclocker. You only get a 30 day warranty with it though. I have not had a problem with these guys or there products. I payed $118 for the cpu.....With retail, you are not guaranteed an AYHJA core. Not to mention the HSF you get with it will be for general purpose and not necessarily for overclocking. But having the 3 year warranty is good though.

It isn't the fact that I NEED Raid, I do plan on using a 30GB ATA 100 HD along with a 48X CD-ROM and (not planning on the upgrade yet) my 2x2x24 CDRW. The chip I plan on using is 1.4 GHz 266Mhz FSB along with 2 256MB 2100 DDR SDRAM DIMMS, so the bus speeds will match anyways- I guess I would just like the ability to upgrade with IDE devices without slowing things down...

The Raid isn't that important now- but I think it will come in handy later upon upgrade... so I believe anyways...

OK im gonna hypnotize you.........MUST HAVE THE AYHJA core .....MUST HAVE THE AYHJA core!!!!!! There have been rumors that some people have gotten these up to 1.7GHz.....I saw the one from Kryotech got it up to 1.886GHz while keeping the cpu at -30 some degrees. Then again, how many of us have $2000 to throw away on a refrigeration unit inside our case?!?!?!
