I have a old comp. I think its 200mhz and 500 or so mb of hdd space. I am going to get cable from adelphia. The only problem is that they assign dynamic ip address. How excatly does broadband give out dynamic ip?? I thought the connection was always on. Oh and i have a domain name that i registered a few months ago that is just sitting there collecting dust.

Anyways, would i be able to set up a mail server? If i could, how would i do that?

Oh yeah, 1 question, if i ever change isp (eg go from cable to dsl with another company), the only thing i would need to change would be the dns right? And i would be able to get the mail from that comp with outlook express on another comp right?

I've got cable from Adelphia. The IP lasts for a while then is changed. Doesn't affect internet usage. I've got my router plugged in with 4 comps connected.

You would need to use a dynamic DNS host for your domain with an MX record for your mail server.
