I have a problem with this one--It used to be readable when I possessed an Intel Pentium II System but unfortunately, my motherboard's BIOS isn't "touching" this device for some strange reason. My DVD-ROM is being read but for some reason, my Yamaha CRW2100E isn't being recognized at bootup, even though I am now using new parts.

Are you running the latest BIOS? I've found that upgrading the BIOS often times fixes problems like these. You could also try resetting the BIOS and loading failsafe (or any other default settings) in the BIOS menu. Weird, but sometimes works.

What motherboard do you have?

The Yamaha CRW2100EZ (My 16/10/40 CD-RW, regardless of what kind of CD-RW you have) has to be the Secondary Master CD-ROM. If it's a Secondary Slave, then your Mobo and/or BIOS won't read it. Therefore, if you have a CD-RW and a DVD-ROM at the same time, then you need to set the CD-RW as the Secondary Master (Set the Jumper to MASTER on your CD-RW), and set the DVD-ROM as the Secondary Slave (Set the Jumper to SLAVE on your DVD-ROM). Otherwise, if the CD-RW is the slave, the Mobo/BIOS won't read your CD-RW at all.

I've managed to verify this just now--It's not the Mobo/Bios Problem--It's the fact that I had the CD-RW as the Slave instead of as the Master. However, all of your Entertainment Needs should be directed towards the DVD-ROM (if you have one).
