Norton Antivirus not being able to read new updates

whenever I try the live update feature, it says that NAV cannot uncompress and read the new updates and that's it's corrupted.

I remember getting a newsletter from sysopt long ago where they give you some of the best threads - this problem was in a thread but I forgot the exact link...I tried a search but I got too many irrelevants hits and the search ended after 200 hits.

so can anyone give me the link to that thread or tell me how to fix this NAV problem? thanks.

Here is an article from the Symantec site that has to do with people using "ZipMagic". It describes the same error message you posted.
LiveUpdate cannot read the list of new updates (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/sharedtech.nsf/docid/2000071009434213&src=hot)
