Need suggestions re: a simple benchamrking instrument that I can use to compare different computers-and-also see if "upgrades" videocards, ram etc) have an actual speeding up effect---
am new to benchmarking so need a simple to use/understand program..
if available on web, can i please have the address/links)..

Does 2d,3d,cpu,memory,hd,among others

If you just search in this forum you'll find it all.
3dmark 2001 for Direct3D video cards.
quake arena for OpenGL video card performance.
Sandra for cpu, memory, HD.

www.3dfiles.com (all game sites have this demo) has quake arena demo
I forgot where I got sandra from.
