If I leave my Internet Explorer running and my monitor powers down I have to reboot to revive my computer. If I use the keyboard or mouse I eventually get a clicking noise and have to reboot to restore the computer. I am using a SMC router as well as a cable modem. Any suggestions?

I'm not saying this is the solution because I don't know alot of info
For waht I have seen, Usually the kind of behavior is due on a confilct between the Power saving used by windows and your Mainboard that doesn't support the command to reactivat the system.
Go visit the manucfacturer mainboard website, you may have to patch you system with a new BIOS and read their facts
Need more Info?

Go into the power save settings and turn them all to "Never", and try it. ( Start, Settings, Control Panel, Screen Saver, "Power" button at the bottom )
If it starts working properly, then turn each of them back on one at a time and see if you experience the problem with a specific power save feature.
I usually just shut off all power save features besides the monitor, because most motherboards dont support power save features properly anyways.
I suspect the Hard Drive feature is causing your problem.

:D thanks to all who offered assistance. The probles was indeed with the problem management setting. It was a bios setting not windows.
