If you have the original game and want to run it without a cd check then you need a nocd crack Do a search for "Quake 2 nocd" here > http://www.astalavista.box.sk/

I've always played QII without the CD - I think all I did was choose the 'full install' when I first installed it.

Actually, no, you don't need a crack. Quake 2 officially stopped checking for the CD I believe with the 3.17 patch. You can get the most recent patch, 3.20 here:

If you plan on playing online (which is really the only way to play Q2) then the patch is absolutely necessary.

Hello.I tried all the web pages to download the Quake II
patch 3.20 -x86-full-Ctf .exe but all what I got:
the following page cannot be displayed .any idea why I have the same Error message ,thanks alot guys.
