Can I somehow block ALL the spam. I'm so sick of getting it everyday from the same people. They just generate some numbers on the end so you can't just block it cause its a different one everytime. Can I block ALL except the ones I have selected?

Gee....Thanks :D

I know there is a way to do it with Hotmail. It has something to do with allowing only mail with your specific name on it to go through. But I'm not sure how it could be done in Outlook , Eudora, etc. I belive in Outlook, you can create mail rules to help manage your mail. :D

Try Hotmail. I have two accounts and use the spam filter there. It works great. I just checked my mail. There are 4 messages in the inbox and 192 in the junk mail. A few will get through. But it's alot better than 192! :D

There is no way to get rid of "all" spam without the possiblity of getting rid of some messages you may want! More than the annoyance, I've always felt the spammers are the same ones that initiate a virus! Or, at least the random method is the same.

I have a couple of e-mail boxes. Strangely enough, my "spam box" gets less spam than my "personal box!" The best I can figure is that a lot of spam gets generated from the eCards sector. My kids send me a lot of eCards.

You can try an use MAIL FILTERS to presort a lot of spam. Usually, the spam comes as a BCC (Blind Carbon Copy). So if the TO line is empty, have it sent to a specific folder. You can then browse that folder and delete the messages.

But I use online e-mail services for a specific reason. First, I hop around ISPs too much. It keeps a stable address. But also, I let the spam and viruses sit on someone else's server!

Where did the term "Spam" originate........

Is it linked to the nasty meat.......

Stupid offers. And they keep using diff address everytime. freemag234320432402332402342424872@freemag.com You get my point. I wish they would make a law against it. Even little things can annoy me if done for 365 days in a year with no end in sight.

I've always understood it's from Monty Python's Spam sketch.

I would suggest using an anti-spam program.

This a new one which recently came out called Mail washer http://www.mailwasher.net/

I've been using a good program called SpamKiller which works pretty well... in addition to the regular filter rules which are updated regularly, you can create your own very easily... works with as many e-mail accounts as you have, more info here: http://www.spamkiller.com/

You can do what I did (With Outlook Exp.) I set up a mail rule

If From Contains _______ Then Delete.

______ can have as many things as you like, if you get from freemag891873482134 Then you just put in freemag, The numbers are meaningless, freemag = delete. you can do thi with outlook but I don't know about webmail.

Oh, try setting up a mail account at netscape.net, I had one there, checked it 2 months later and there were 2 messages, both sent to me not spam. (Yes they were mad about no reply for 2 months.)

I use Letterbox ( freeware ) from ,
http://freewarehome.com/Internet/E-Mail/E-mail_Notification_t.html
Auto delete rules can be added , view emails on the server & delete
unwanted , then open up the the email client .
Any that I miss or not sure of , right clicking on the senders email
address , brings up block sender .
Set your message filter to only accept email that has your correct
name/addy in the 'TO:' line. You will be surprised at how much email
comes to you without your name or addy, in the 'TO' line. You can set
it to delete, or set it to automatically go into a folder, in your
Inbox, so you can check it.

I find that with Outlook 2000, sometimes mails I have not designated a rule for occasionally end up being deleted automatically. I think I'm going to try some of these programs, thanks for the links.

Oh, BTW can I have Spam Spam Spam eggs sausage bacon Spam without the Spam?

You should try Graffiti.net (http://www.graffiti.net)
They have a very active AntiSpam policy

The good thing with Small Mail Server Like Graffiti, They are fast, no spam and very good DHTML Interface

Hotmail or yahoo are big service and most of the spammers focus on them, Move to Graffiti.net and give a try using a dumy email
