3DFX Voodoo5 5500 AGP Low Scores!!!

I got a 182 on 3dmark 2001 and when I o/c my Voodoo to 185Mhz it only got 192. I realy need a Geforce 3. lol

I am runing a P2 333Mhz 66Mhz FSB (hopefuly not for long), On a Tyan Tiger 133 S1834. 20Gb Maxtor HD 7200rpm at ATA66. 512mb of sdram. Voodoo5 5500 AGP, Ess1869 Sound card (I need soundblaster live), IBM Rockwell 56kbs v.90 modem, I need a new processor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Before you spend $300.00 on a new video card you should upgrade your processor and mobo. Putting a GF3 in your existing system would not improve it.

With a 1gig or higher athlon with the Voodoo 5, you should see scores of 2500 to 3000.

My board will only take up to P3 933Mhz to still have a fsb of 133mhz.......If i get a good ruselt with it i might buy a GF3 for about $200 but I have to have $250 for the p3 enless some one can find one in box for cheaper for me.....i used pricegrabber to find the one.

I didn't realize that was a dual processor board. You should be able to find a couple P3 800 for $100 to $125.00 Ea.

I really don't have any experience with dual CPU's. Maybe someone else who does will see this and tell you what kind of performance to expect. Or, you could post in the CPU Forum. I do know going to a P3 Single processor at 933 would be a major omprovement also.

Voodoo 3 2000 PCI
Everything integrated..!!

So.... something is wrong with your system! Maybe the settings?

You definately need to upgrade you system bra! I have a Voodoo 5 and it kicks ***! What can anyone really expect from a measly P2 333Mhz system anyway? I, on the other hand, have an Athlon 1.2Ghz @ 1.4Ghz (*10.5 x 133) w/ 512MB Crucial DDR, K7 Master mobo, Thermalright SK6 HS w/Delta fan, Enlight 7237 w/300w psu. All running on Win XP! This, my friend, is the way to get outstanding numbers! Dinosaurs are extinct, no pun intended. Now on the upside there is an inexpensive solution to your problem. It's name is http://www.pricewatch.com , this is by far the best place to shop for hardware online and many times you can find stores with good---great prices in your own hometown. If not http://www.newegg.com has got to be the best e-tailer on the net with great prices, great shipping, and very happy customers! The key is research and do a lot of it. As soon as you think you know something someone else clues you into something new. Another key is patience, all too often we humans are eager to jump on the bigger, better deal. Time is the healer man! Wait until all the impulsives make these manufacturers rich, then when their new products come out the then new stuff will be old and cheaper, sometimes much cheaper. But you know this man! :cool: Save your money and watch prices drop each month as you do, research, in the interim, all the best hardware, and once you have several hundred dollars saved then you'll be ready for a worthwhile upgrade!
