just ran 3dmark 2001 826!

how is that possible

im runnin a amd 1.3
geforce 2 mx 400 64mb
256 mb ddr ram

obviously my score should be a lot higher , what could be causing the slowdown? (my unreal and quake 3 fps are also very low)

Hi kodi82

What chipset does your motherboard have (it'll say in the motherboard manual) and have you installed drivers for your motherboard's chipset?

You should be getting close to 2500 (probably more) in 3DMark2001 with those specs.

I would try uninstalling your GeForce drivers completely and installing the "Standard PCI VGA Graphics driver". Then install your GeForce drivers again and finally reinstall DirectX for good measure.

I've just had a look at that motherboard here (http://www.gbt-tech.co.uk/products/products.htm) and found this:

CHIPSET
AMD-761 north bridge
VIA 686B south bridge
AC97 codec + Creative CT5880 sound

I believe this is what's called a hybrid chipset and I don't quite know what you're supposed to do about chipset drivers. I've had a look at Gigabyte's driver page (http://www.gbt-tech.co.uk/products/products.htm) and there are 3 different drivers (the audio driver depends on whether or not your motherboard is the Revision 2.2).

If you installed just AMD chipset drivers I would uninstall them and install the 3 drivers (AMD, VIA and audio) from Gigabyte's site.

Good luck :)

BTW, what version of Windows are you using?

Another thing you could do is download an overclocker for a video card like Powerstrip.

This does help increase FPS.

That card isn't the very fast either. But you should get better then that!

Was that all you could say bob? So go spend 60-70$ MORE on a GF2 Pro or Ultra? Hardly any1 has cash to go upgrade just because they want 2. I would sugest updating drivers.
