Hi to all,

Our office currently is connected the LAn with ADSL modem and my boss would like to
buy a new computer to do the web hosting ourself.

I would like to know what kind of hardware configuration I need if I want to host the web site of my 6 web page / web site clients?

Do I need web server (2X, 1 for the primary and the other one for back up) ?

Also Do I need 2X for Email Server as well ?

LAstly, my ADSL modem had been shared internally with 6 Win2k workstations and 1 Win 2k server already. May I know do I need a T-1 or T3 line to do the web hosting ??

Please advise.

izzzy2k.. Why? He's not having any technical difficulties. He just wants advice on how and what setup he needs for a server.

gomcse...

You'll only need one server. Just buy a Jaz Drive or a Tape drive with the system to back up critical information onto media.

You can run different types of server software off of the one system as well. Your web server/email server/ftp server software can all run simultaneously.

With only six webpages, and client pages I wouldn't expect to be needing to backup an extravagant amount of files either. Since the server would only be hosting a few pages it wouldn't need to be some huge state of the art thing either.

As for "T1 or T3" line, T3 would obviously be better, since it has higher speeds.

You'll also need to have a STATIC IP ADDRESS for the server to do the hosting with.

Hope I've Helped!
