Hello, I need to buy a pci SCSI card to run an HP 4C scanner in my new computer and was wondering
what brand or type of card to buy. I have been running it on the hp isa card that came with it.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

First, sound like you was using an ISA controller with your Scanner and now, your New mainboard does not have a ISA slot.
Sorry

"AnyWho", the Best Vendors or if you prefer the mostused is any Adaptec Scsci Controller but there is plenty vendors now. even ASUSTEC (make mainboard) has their own scsi controller

Since you are not looking for Speed or performance because your scanner speed limitation.
I will tell you buy a chip used SCSI controller, don't forget the SCSCI cable. In your scanner doc you should have a reccommended SCSI Controler model and what SCSI cable to used (I suspect CENTRONIC to SCSC1).

I hope this answer help you but I'm sure you will have many other answers, good luck

Thanks, Whackerland. Yes, I was using the isa card with the old system, and the new system is all pci slots. I have heard of adaptec and will check out that route. thanks again, John

Go TekRam (http://www.tekram.com) just as good and half the cost. Also that 2940uw is more card than you need. That is unless you are going to redo your system as scsi only.

I have the same exact same scanner, and I had the same problem you're having when I got my new system. I got the Adaptec SCSI card mentioned above (2940UW) and its been working great.
