hi everyone,
Something changed on my EI5.5 browser. Since a few weeks ,when left-clicking on a download-link, not the usual downloadwindow opened, but it was always Quicktime witch appeared. Removing Quicktime from my system, resulted in a window explaning to me there was "no vieuwer availleble to open this file". This happens on normal downloadsites as Tucows, MSN or Microsoft.
The actions I took where: (over)reinstalling Win 98 with no results, then running the IE-repair uttility in systeminformation: again no results.
Since yesterday I found out that the problem only seems to exist for HTML-type and not for AVI or MPG-type buttons (looking at the properties of the link).
Strange enough, downloading by rightclick and "save as" doesn't give any problems.
Anyone an idea??? TNX Maclu:confused:

Try removing IE 5.5 completely and gettin a fresh download from M$ and then try doin a full install all over again... I've had some weird probs that could only be fixed by doina full install of MSIE.

For each file-type extension that's giving you a "problem", you should go, in an Explorer window, to View/ (File) Options & click the "File Types" tab. Highlight, then click "edit" on all of the problem file-types and make sure the "Confirm open after download" button is checked. This has always worked in the past; however, recently I've heard it won't work w/newer versions of Windoz & IE.
