Right I am off to university next week, its my second year and we have moved into a student house. Our problem is what to do about an internet connection. I have already been to the house and moved all my stuff in. Whilst I was there my housemate and I have already put in the cabling and hub for a 100 Mbit network and our computers are connected. The problem arises when everyone moves in, we all need a internet connection, so I have spent the summer looking at something faster. Apart from ISDN this is the only other connection that is fast that I can find. http://www.blueyonder.co.uk
someone tell me is it cable modem or DSL or are they the same thing??? also it reckons its got a maximum d/l of 512Kbps and u/l of 128 kbps, We arnt that bothered about upload speeds but I would like to know how this is gonna fair up when shared across 4 computers??

Also if the cable modem is connected to my computer will it be faster for me than everyone else??

Dave, it looks like it's a cable modem type setup that is run over a fiber-optic loop. It would be a good way to go.

Oh, your's would not be faster than the others, although actual speed will depend on how many are on at the same time.
