 HELP........... I am building a new puter here are the specs
Abit TH7
320 watt P4 approved power supply
P4 1.4
512 samsung RDRAM non-eec
40 gig WD ata 100
S/B live platinum
Creative 12-10-32 cd-rw

The problem is that the **** thing reboots by itself. I cant pinpoint anything in general that causes it. This mobo has the intel 850i chipset and I installed the drivers for the intel ultra ata like it said but it still reboots. I also did a clean install with 2 different video card and the same thing happends. I have all the latest drivers and also have the latest bios. I Messed with ACPI in windows with no luck......WTF, I need some major help here never had this happen before. Anyone with a sure fix ?????? any help would be greatly appreciated!! 1,000 bucks goin to hell here

Try loading BIOS setup defaults. There might be a setting that is 'too optimized' in the BIOS.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that also. I forgot to mention in my last post that the processor temp was only 118 deg f. All other temps were good as well. I thought there might have been a problem with the intel ultra ata ide controller driver but I used regular windows drivers and the same thing happend...... REBOOT. I moved the ide's to the HPT370 portion of the board and disabled the primary and secondary in the bios for ide1 and 2.....REBOOT. Anyone think of something else to try?

You're saying it reboots. When does this happens? When the GUI is loading?
And are you doing an install of a previous version of win since you mentioned it's a Win Me update? If you do, does he reboot there too?

Thanks for the reply. I installed the upgrade of ME on top of an OEM version of WIN98 SE. I think it did Reboot 1 time during the install of ME. It seems that it runs fine until I put in Delta Force 3 or any other game, it will load the game and I'll start playing for about 30 sec or so then ........auto REBOOT. I'm not sure if it reboots on 98 SE because I installed ME right after 98 was done

I guess, when you start playing, you are using a cd. I come up with this because I just read another thread in TechSupp :

You are using the same mobo with the same controller. According to Abit you cannot put an ATAPI drive (your cd-rw) on the HPT370. Instead you should use the prim (or sec) controller. Appearently there is something happening when you try to use both drives at the same time.

OK here's the fix............I guess it could have been a number of things but the 1 i think fixed it was the IRQ from ACPI cntrl, it does not share nicely so I reserved it to irq 9. The other thing i noticed was the default voltage of the P4 was 1.75 but in the bios the voltage was only reading 1.66 so I stepped up the voltage a notch. I also set the RDRAM to run at 300mhz instead of 400 default it works fine now and ran 3d mark 2001 with a score of 5986. Thanks for all youre posts!!
