I have the mediaplayer as my primary source of MP3, etc. play. However, when I want to listen to a internet broadcast in Realplayer, it tells me "audio player device in use by another application". Is there some way I can have both these guys work?? I have unchecked everything in mediaplayer's options. Still no workey. Any ideas??

sounds like you have an old soundcard. i had an old soundcard once that would give a similar error when launching two apps that used it. i now have a new card that allows for sound to come from multiple sources, and i don't have that problem. i could run CD player to listen to music and launch a game of quake and hear sounds from both at the same time.

although this explains what i believe to be the problem, it does not answer your question. i believe the answer is NO, it's not going to work until you upgrade - but i could be wrong. knowing the make/model of the soundcard would make a pretty big difference too.

open Realplayer... go to "preferences"...check the folders for "use Realplayer as default program" to play popular formats (mp3,wav..etc..)...

i hope this helps.....

I've got an Ensoniq AudioPCI/Part #6000566 soundcard. The two controllers/drivers loaded on are Creative Labs Soundblaster AudioPCI 64V(for chipset 1370) and Soundblaster AudioPCI Legacy 64v. Don't know why two, but that's what Gateway put on. Don't know if knowing this can help clarify anything.
And, yeah, it's three years old, but with current drivers. Thanks.
