i have a copy of some music that a friend put on a cd as data. how can i get the music to my hard drive?

i tried to record them to my hard drive using musicmatch but it wouldn't work.

music saw the cd as a data cd and said i had to insert an audio cd to record.

i want to put them on my hard drive so that i can make a cd from the music.

i only have a cdrw on my system so i can't copy from cd to cd.

if youre saying its data(mp3 files, wav files), not .cda files then you can just copy and paste the files in windows explorer wherever you like.
if its .cda format i only know of a way that you can decode the cda files to mp3 to keep on your drive. you can find those decoders all over the web.

You don't have to have :) two CD drives to to copy CDs. Almost every burning program out there can do CD-copy with only CD-RW being installed, you just select it for "source" and "destination". so the the program first copies original disc to the harddisk, then burns it on CD-R.

Best Regards ...

Realy dumb question but did you create a music CD or a Data CD??

Did you get ANY error messages while creating the cd??

Did you try using the same CD twice for creating the copy?? Because if you tried it with musicmatch and got an error and then tried the same CD with EasyCD. It could have been so buggered up my musicmatch that it just would not be readable when it was done.

If your friend created a data CD then you need to go through Windows Explorer to get to the files. Any Audio Program that is used to rip/write CDs will **** out with a Data CD!
