OK Will all you guys (& Girls) give me your opinion...
A. 800MHZ P3 with 384 megs ram.
B. 672MHZ P3 with 512 Megs Ram.
Whats better for gaming, general work and graphics?

Are they both Coppermine P3's? Because the Katmai's 1/2 cache divider would be a hinderance IMO, so if the 800 were Coppermine and the 672 were Katmai (Overclocked, obviously), I'd say A. If they're both Coppermine, I'd say it depends on what you're running. Gaming - A, General work - doesn't matter, Graphics - B.
The true answer is A.
The reason is after about 192M to 256M, no detectable performance improvement will ever be seen in a single cpu system.
This has been tested in many ways on many websites.
To effectively use more ram, you need a dual cpu rig or better, then performance seems to be best at 512M, and taps out at about a gig.
So, for what is given here, 800MHz is definitely the better.
( BTW: are youtrying to decide the best option for overclocking a 600E with some ram that works at 133 and some that does not? )

I didnt want to mention OCing because I didnt think this was a OCing question, but yes its a Coppermine flipchip 600e that I can OC easily to 800MHZ with three sticks of PC100 128 meg ram, no prob. Now even if I stick a PC133 stick doesnt matter what Megs (tried 64-128) it will not work. I can put 4 sticks of 128 meg ram PC100 and oc to 672 (112mhz) it works fine any higher than that and its ****. But like I said 3 stick 128 pc100 running at 133 not prob, I add a 4th stick even PC133 and it wont read all my memory. Can it have something to so with my voltage? I have never upped it. Thanks.
It sounds like a power supply/motherboard problem on hte 3.3v bus. Just live with less ram at a higher speed and use the other dimm in a new PC http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

The fastest box is determined by the height at which you drop each box. I proclaim the box failing the greatest distance will attain the highest speed.
Why don't you just benchmark both and determine for yourself. Performance will be affected by the VGA, mobo, BIOS, OS, and so many other factors, the question is rather ambiguous.

BBA has got it.
Insane amounts of RAM don't help that much.

Hey Guys thank you very much for you input on my question. I think I will leave it at 800Mhz with the lower ram. I was really starting to **** me off trying to change all the ram in my computer back and forth. Thanks again.
Dave.

Insane amounts of RAM don't help that much.
Depends on what kinda programs you're running.
