i'd like to know if its possible to overclock my system. i have a pentium 3 550 mhz processor on a Gigabyte GA-6BXC motherboard, equiped with 768mb 133mhz SDRAM.

i have noticed that there is a jumper which enables/disables system acceleration, and currently it is disabled. would enabling it and increasing the system bus speed from 100mhz to 133 mhz increase the speed? would i need to adjust the Clock ratio to compensate for the increased bus speed or keep it the same??

advice plz
thanx

U can't increase the multilpier on intel cpu's since the PII, If u increase the FSB to 133mhz it'd o/c it to 733mhz, most Katmai chips won't go past 600mhz....your board has a 112mhz setting with the dip-switches, that'd be your best bet.

so did you made your overclocking?
if you havent figure out so far
do the following
set this jumper you notice to turbo mode then go to sw1 in order first to go from 100mhz to 112mhz
check your system if boots right and doesnt perfoms lock ups
or problems of stability
if everthing went well try setting the fsb to 133mhz
see what happens
