What I mean, is extrictly use linux?
nothing but.
I have a few friends that are linux masters, but they also use win2k or beos, or some other OS on their systems.
I am thinking of switching to x-trict use linux, but I am not sure if I can get all the functionality.
for example what can I use instead of Adobe photo shop, and other programs that only work on win like.

It started out as a bit of humor but read on in this link and it should answer your question.

I know quite a few people with functional linux boxes. I don't know of any exclusively. Then again, these days, I don't know anyone running any OS exclusive. I've been 9X/NT for 4 years or so now...

Absolutely ! I exclusively run Linux (Mandrake 7.1 / KDE ). No dual booting, just Linux. Tried W2K for a while on one of my boxes, but didn't like it. Both systems running Linux only now. Using Netscape for browsing, Kmail for email, StarOffice 5.2 for office apps, X-CDroast for burning, GIMP for graphics.

Running on a Cel-466, 256 Mb, 16.8 Gb disk(s) & nVidia TNT-2 16 Mb.

Oh yeah: Xmms & kmp3 for multi-media stuff, and Coffee Cup for web development.

All my 3 systems running exclusively linux. I always hated dual boot systems so never had two OS's. Now I use only linux, I can do 100% of what I could do in windows + more!

somethings are different but mostly better so... it takes some time to adjust though.

ooh here's something: shockwave player for linux -> there is no such thing so if it's not flash 4 you won't see it.

What else.... oh! there is no Acrobat to turn your favorite web sites to pdf's but there are ways to turn them to PS which is the same....

what else... can't remember anything else but there were things (oh, form GoLive to Bluefish for web design) that I learnt differently and I am now happy with.

BTW anyway of playing wma in linux????

they come into work next monday, and we will all be running linux... if I can make the change so can they....
it will be like if I was cought in the matrix and I had to show em...
