Okay all, here's the spec's for the new system I'm thinking about putting together. Now keep in mind, I use graphic intesive programs along with some gaming and a lot of internet:

Windows2000
Tyan S1836DLUAN-GX Thunder100 (See link below)
(2)PII-400's or Celerons
256MB or so PC100 (maybe more for sh*ts and giggles)
Ultra 2 SCSI 17gig. (Not sure on brand yet)
SBLive Value (Again)
For Video, I'm thinking V2 or TNT2 or both http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif (Thanks your tip on ROCHE's post BBA)
50x or faster CD-ROM (have 48x now, might get another one)
LS-120 along with regular Floppy
Large ATX Case (Room for improvement http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif )
19-21" Monitor. (Depends on funds at the end of this project)

Here's the link to the motherboard spec's:

Some of you who are familiar with my posts, will know that I'm not comfortable with the onboard sound, I know I'm not going to use it. The onboard ethernet, though, looks appealling to me. (Am I sick or something?)

Well, what do ya think?
Anyone D R O O L I N G yet?

Killer setup. I'm not sold on W2K yet though. I'll wait until the distribution base is pretty large until I even consider it. Cheetah, Cheetah. IBM is too $$$. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Yeah, I figure I'll have a lot of bugs to deal with in Win2K, but I'm up to the challenge. Cheetah is on my list, but I havn't had any dealings with Seagate personally. IBM may be expensive, but I'm confident in their quality. Also considering Western Digital, but havn't heard anything good about them lately. Seems like they went downhill. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Thanks MadMax,

Point taken.
I won't get the Processors until last, so I may just get a couple PIII's instead, don't know yet. Does anyone have any input on running dual celery's?

You might want to consider the Tyan S1837UANG Thunderbolt instead of the Thunder 100. The Thunderbolts costs about $80 more, but it has onboard Ultra2 Wide SCSI vs Wide SCSI. If you're going the Seagate route, you might as well make sure you have plenty of bandwidth available for that hard drive and anything else on that chain. I'm not sure about the Thunder 100, but I know the the Thunderbolt also uses Dual Channel SCSI.

Looks good otherwise! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

RyanVM-I saw that one, and was interested in it until I noticed that they put the AGP slot right in the middle of the PCI slots. I'm not really comfortable with that setup, although that's not a good excuse not to buy it.

I may just get everyone's opinion, write them down, and throw darts to decide.

Well, sounds pretty good. If I said anything that may have helped you then your welcome.

I think the P2 400 route would not be the best to go in, either spend the extra $100 a piece for P3's or save more by going with celerons modified for dual or on slotkets modified.
