While trying to download Adobe Acrobat Reader, AOL froze the screen, and an error msg said "AOL cannot download bla bla..." and then "If you continue to experience this problem, reinstall AOL." So I saved what I thought was my address book and email downloaded to my C drive, uninstalled AOL, reinstalled AOL 4.0, and now can't find addressbook or email. Any ideas on how to get it back? Nothing in the recycle bin. (Win 98) Everlastingly grateful....

When you went thru the uninstall routine it should have asked if you wanted your "personal items" (downloads,Email and address stuff) moved to the desktop. Did you uncheck that for some reason?

Your previous personalized settings resided in Path/AolX/Organize (& subfolders) and Path/AolX/Idb. Do those originals still exist? It's best NOT to uninstall AOL because a new installation will create a new, separate AolX folder. Bottom line is, if those where deleted & you don't have any backups, you're SOL. Check the drive folders to see if anything of your old Aol is left somewhere.
