performance loss don't know why

wondering if anyone could shed some light on this situation. Whenever i have my game controller plugged into my gameport on the soundcard it drops my system performance for some reason.

Here are the specs:
Abit BF6 mobo
SB pci 512
gravis gamepad pro

any ideas i know the controller is causing it

Have you tried different(newer) drivers for that pad? Try another gamepad brand, does it still slow performance?

tried the newest drivers for everything already

something is very weird here right now i have a p3 700 running at 933 the strange thing is that when i plug the controller in like i said above it drops the performance a good amount but the strangest thing is after i plug the controller in if i go into cpuid it will read my fsb as being 133 but the processor speed as being 920

Funny.............I have a p3-700 and a Gravis gamepadpro plugged in and today mine is also running like ****.....right click menus are stuttering.............

Hmmmm.... could be i guess they are incompatible since i have tried everything. HFDWOLFPACK what type of soundcard are you using your gameport off of or what device are you plugging your controller into???

I have one more question now i accidently spilled something all over my controller so i need a new one anyways.

Any suggestions on a good controller to get????

Maybe they are just plain uncompatible together?
