I recently found some very old xt games which are unplyable at todays machines.
I think there are programs around that slowdown your pc in order to run correctly very old programs, like from 8086.
Could anyone please tell me which is the best and where to find such software?

May sound kinda silly, but just open up 20 netscapes or so and then run it. Worked for LORD.

There is a program called Turbo that you can run your CPU at 1 to 100% of its normal speed. I have used it on my PII 350 to be able to run some old programs that wouldn't handle the faster CPUs.

That's funny, most of the posts here are people wanting to speed up thier system. Don't hear of too many people wanting to slow it down.

Isn't there a way using the DOS window short cut to slow down the speed? I may be way out there on this one, I hope not though!

IE4 running in the background should solve your problems in no time. There is nothing quite like that for slowing my machine down!

You don't need any program, just turn off level 1 and level 2 cache in bios before booting the dos. :PP, you can try press "control","alt" and "-"(in right hand) at the same time under dos for old mobo.

Thanks guys.

Turbo worked just fine. I turned down cpu to about 20%. Everything was fine.

I guess disabling cache would do that, but its much better this way.

Its funny to see how windows perform when cpu is at 1%.
