I'm running my T-Bird at approx 1480, and have my geforce3 at 232 core 505 mem. Can't go any higher on my geforce without encountering instability and graphics artifacts. What kind of cooling would you guys suggest? Talking about HSF, not peltier or water cooling.

I am assuming your talking about cooling for the TBIRD? If so, what do you have on there now? I am using the Vantec CCK-6035D (Copper).

No, talkin' 'bout the Geforce3, the stock hsf blows (and not in a good way!) My cpu will be sporting the millenium Glaciator, as soon as it gets here!

At these speeds :) - do you really need those poor 2-5 fps you can possibly achieve with better cooling ?!

Best Regards ...

Once again, I have to ask, What are u doing here? Of course you do! You need as much speed/mhz/fps you can get out of your hardware! If it ain't broke, overclock it, man! I'm gonna o/c my BRAIN as soon as I can figure out how to do it!

I've had my GF3 at 230/530 with the stock fan. But if your wanting to pull off the fan and replace it you can try:TGF020 Blue Orb Chip Cooler (http://www.crazypc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=120199&Product_Code=5103)

Looks nice... is it a good cooler?

I have my Gainward running at 235/530 with stock cooling and mem heatsinks. You said that you are running your cpu at 1480. Are you OCing the FSB or multiplier? If your using FSB, your card is running alot higher than 230/530. I had problems OCing the card at all when my FSB was higher than 146. I have my 1.33 running at 1.47. Just changed the multiplier to 11. Now I am getting 7450 in 3dmark at 1024x768x32color. I am pretty happy with the performance increase and it's perfectly stable.

Abit KG7-Raid / Tbird 1.33 AYHJA / 256 Corsair PC2400
2 IBM 40 gig Raid 0 / Gainward Geforce 3 VIVO / Turtle Beach
Santa Cruz / Enermax 431 psu / Klipsch Promedia 2.1

Yeah, FSB, set at about 142 I think. It's 1.4 normal. Can't change the mult. yet, need an additional part for my mobo. Can't jack the memory any higher than 505 on the geforce before encountering artifacts and lockups. I figured a little extra cooling power on the geforce chip would help smooth the waters a little

Dude, the Blue Orb is the way to go for video card cooling hands down. I can run my Geforce 2 GTS PRO (200/400 stock) up to 235/485

Thanks, Batmeat, I'll look into that now!

Why overclock such a high end card? Is it worth burning it out before any games come out that actually take advantage of it? If a few FPS is worth the instability go ahead but you're not going to get decent results without a Thermoelectric device (peltier). Remeber the perfect heatsink can only cool your GF3 to room temperature, that's it. Besides, overclocking the memory will improve your performance much more than overclocking the core.
