I know that setting the minimum and max swap file size to the same number improves performance but what would be the correct size? I've heard that the swap file size should be set as 2.5 multiplied by the amount of physical ram but this is from my friends and they always seem to be wrong.

MS says to put in 12 megs more swap than you have of RAM. So a 128 meg RAM computer would use a 140 meg swap.

Bigslammer, go to this site and read the section on optimizing your Swapfile. It helped with mine.

I have 64Ram and mine is set at 100 min/max. It works for me.

It helps to have Norton Speed Disk to make your swap file permanent and to place it on the outer edge of your HD. All this info was originally provided by Socalgal http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
