Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Scrolling interfering with sound
When scrolling in IE and listening to music at the same time I get interference with the sound. If I scroll using the wheel on the mouse the sound will slow down, crackle, skip, repeat, etc. If I use the scrollbars all but the crackle happens.
I tested it while using Winamp, Media Player and RealPlayer and had the same problem in all. I have only found the problem when scrolling in IE.

This mouse wouldn't by chance be the same one you speak of in your other thread, would it?

Has it been doing this all along, or only after you've made any changes to your system that were recommended in that thread?
No, this is a diffent mouse.
I don't think this is a new thing, it's been hapening all along on this computer.
Is it something to do with the mouse? Because it does still happen when using the scrollbars at the side of the screen. And also that it only happens in IE. Scrolling elsewhere is no problem.

You could try taking down your graphics acceleration down a notch or two in the perfomance settings that are located in your system settings in the control panel. I'm assuming you're in a windows 9x environment, but that's all I can think of at the moment. Hopefully something else will come to mind if that doesn't take care of it.

Settings for the foreground application may be too high (assuming your running Win9x). What operating system are you running?

I had that problem too, when ever scrolling I would hear this strange sound through the speakers.
It stopped when I bought a better quality sound card like the SB Live.

That's interesting CM, I had the same problem and it was due to an underpowered video card, but that makes sense in your case too, that a more powerful soundcard can do its own mp3 decompression and not tax the cpu. In my case, the cpu was overworked trying to redraw the screen and decompress the mp3 at the same time.
I sometimes have same problem (when browsing in IE), but I also use CPUCool, and I know for sure it causes it (when I turn CPUCool off, everything is fine again). You might want to properly adjust your memory/PCI timings, if you can, especially if you use mobo with VIA 686B southbridge and SB Live! card (althought I have SB 128).
Best Regards ...
I changed the graphics acceleration down but it did no good.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. I'm using Windows98.
My sound is onboard. As far I can tell it's a VIA AC'97 Audio Controller.
My Video is also onboard. S3 Graphics ProSavage 16mb
CPU is an Athlon 1200.
What is CPUCool?

What are they, and how would I do that? I know I don't have a SB sound card, but I have no idea about the VIA686B southbridge.
I've just discovered that this problem does not happen when playing an audio CD. Only with the MP3.

Try this...
1. Right click My Computer and then select properties
2. Click on the performace tab
3. Click the file system button
4. Change the role from Desktop computer to Network Server.
This will give more priority to background processes. Active processes may react slower depending on the speed of your computer.
Already have it set to that.

I never realised that that could be the problem, I just thought it was due to a crappy sound card, now that you mention this it makes perfect sense.

I'm not sure which player your using but if it has connection settings that allow you to select the bandwith for online functions - try reducing it to ISDN instead of T1 or Cable
Winamp mainly. Couldn't find any settings like the one's you mentioned though.
