I received my new Promise Ultra ATA/100 card today and I can't get it to work with my system. The boot process either stops on the screen where it says hit del to enter bios setup, or it will give a message saying "Primary master hard disk fail." I've tried the card in each PCI slot with no other cards installed (except AIW AGP) with the same results. If I move the cable back to IDE1 on the motherboard everything is fine, and the Promise controller shows up in the Device Manager as having no conflicts.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Hi,

I'm assuming you have your HDD connected to IDE1 on the Ultra card. Did you change all harddrives in your BIOS to none? Don't know if that's the problem but it might be worth a try.

Ayuen, you were absolutely right! I edited my bios to show "none" for all drives and now it works!! Thanks for the tip!
