Building a 1.4 tbird with a ECS K7S5A mobo. I'd like to oc this board to 150/150 @ 1.85 v. I like to use my fastrack 66 pci card with 2 ibm deskstar 13.5 7200 / 2 meg drives. I havn't oc since p200 days and back then there was always the concern of increasing speeds and burning up pci cards. Also wondering if this is a viable option considering the ibm drives are deskstar 22gxp's and are capable of substained transfer rates of 10 to 17 mb/sec.
I was going to run raid0 and use symantec ghost on cd-rw for back-ups. Thanks

I believe your wondering if the FasTrack will be OK at a PCI clock of 37.5MHz.
Promise controllers do not have a good record of overclockability.
I have had mixed results. The most recent cards for some reason seem more tolerant than the older ones. There is no way to predict the outcome without trying, but I would give a better than 50/50 guess that the mild PCI boost you are contemplating will work.
I know of no one personaly who has burned out anything but CPU's by overclocking. Problems, yes, but no "smoke". I have to conclude that it is rare to destroy cards.
As for the IBM disks, they were among the best when manufactured, and should perform well.
