Hello!

Please can someone help with this problem? I have an old PC which came with a Windows 98 SE recovery CD only. The recovery CD basically consists of a big recovery.cab file which extracts itself to C:\ then reboots the machine and Windows Setup 'continues' from there (though there is no setup.exe in the .cab file)

I have one hard disk with multiple partitions (primary C: and extended partition which contains Logical Drives D: E: F: and G:)

My problem is how can I get my PC to boot up if I want to move C:\Windows to E:\Windows? I tried manually extracting the recovery.cab file to E:\, which created the Windows directory, and the Program Files directory, as well as installing the io.sys, autoexec.bat etc files in E:\ however my computer would not boot up.

I also tried installing the Recovery CD into C:\ as normal, then trying to move C:\Windows across to E:\ but upon rebooting I found that all I got was the C:\ DOS prompt.

Please can someone help? I don't have a regular Windows CD with a setup.exe just the recovery CD I got with the PC. I'ld like to move my Windows install to E:\ and keep program files, applications etc. in C:\

Basically: how can I move C:\Windows to E:\Windows and have my PC boot up as normal?

Also, would it be possible to edit something in the .cab file to this effect?

Thanks in advance!
Jim
