Hey guys, I got this in an email (spam?) and wanted your opinions on it. Has anyone tried this product? Text follows:

Subject: Boost Windows reliability!!!!
Dear Windows User,

Now you can boost the reliability of ordinary Windows 3.x, 95 and 98 to
nearly the level of Windows NT or 2000, Microsoft's professional and
industrial
version of Windows.

The new WinFix 4.3 is a very effective way to improve the reliability of
Windows, because it makes Windows fault-tolerant and self-repairing. And
WinFix is very safe, because it operates completely independent
of
Windows.

the safest, most effective way to keep you working, by keeping your PC
working non-stop.

Interesting, will have to look into this...

My way of making Win9X more reliable.

Take a box.
Wipe drive(s).
Load Linux (yes, load linux).
Install VMware for Linux.
Start VMware.
Install Win9X on VMware virtual machine.
Use $49 for beer, snacks, ammunition, toilet paper.

Yes, I have had great success with VMWare. I use it on 2000 and run 98 out of it. I want to do what was done above with Linux and run VMWare as well but don't kow enough about Linix yet. I ran VMWare on one system that had the bare minimum of system specs (PII 266 and 64MB RAM) and it was really laggy. I ran it on my main system with a 900MHz PIII and 256MB RAM and it ran like a dream. Very nice app that can be DLed for a demo for 30 days.

(Sigh) Ablang, you should know better.... Alot of stability and speed come from (relative) simplicity (especially for Win9X), not from adding even more layers of software Windows has to run.

I've heard the best way to improve Windows' reliability is to get Windows ME. A friend (ex MS employee) says it's effectively imposible to "break" and heals itself the way NT does. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
