Man, it has been impossible getting a good clear answer for this so far! Can anyone help me here?

I have a PII system with 128Mb RAM & 6.4GB harddisk (partitioned). Now, because I still want to use a number of my good ol' DOS & Win3.x software, plus play around with Linux and use Win98 with some of my newer software, I need a multiOS & multiboot PC.

The question is: How do I tweak and setup my machine to give me options to run those various OSs upon bootup, without using software like Partition Magic & System Commander?

While I've never actually used Linux, I remember hearing once upon a time about a program included with Linux called LiLo (or something like that...). I heard it was difficult to set up, but it was an OS loader. Try looking into that.

get a program called system commander. you can get it at CompUSA for about 60 bucks. you can run multiple OS's.

You'll have to use LILO unless you are willing to shell out the bucks for System Commander (WELL worth it). LILO isn't pretty, but it works. System Commander is pretty intuitive and does a lot of work automatically.

just remember to install linux last since microsoft products tend to rewrite the master boot record (and erase os loading software information).
