no scan do

With no significant changes to the system since I last used the scanner, as soon as I try to aquire a scanned image directly into an application such as Word 97 I get a blue screen and have to do a restart. I used the scanner software to do a self test and all is working fine so it seems to be a software problem. Any suggestions on how to tackle this please?

1.) so you're saying that the system, scanner, etc. worked fine before, and you've successfully taken scanner images and imported them to a word document without a problem?

2.) how are you bringing the file over (format of file, etc.) just by using the insert function in word?

3. are you running other apps at the same time?

4. specs on your system, and have you fiddled with the virtual memory settings or are you running short of space on your hard drive?

Did you have problems scanning directly into programs other than Word97? When I used to scan directly into WordPerfect, my system would crash. That was a few computer /software configurations ago, but I remember it. Now with WP Office 2000 I don't have that problem. Likely a software compatibility issue. Perhaps your scanner or scan software or even Microsoft has a patch for your problem. Have you checked the support/product pages at those respective sites?
