I was looking into notepad but that sure is alot of work and time consuming. JaYsin Warthog 08-31-2000, 02:30 PM For the "average" web designer, I think they use Siteaid or some prog like it. Apps like that make it a lot easier to build a webpage, instead of writing out all the code in notepad. I really don't know that much, as I am not a webpage designer - yet - but my dad is and that is what he uses. Just don't go the Frontpage/Publisher route. A friend of my dad's I know was having a "professional" web page developer do his site. The guy was using Frontpage. The "professional" told my dad's friend that an "error" message came up when he would try to upload stuff to the site. The message basically said that you had to rewrite some files to add new ones. DUH!! Of course you do that.lol http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Warthog Mntsnow 08-31-2000, 02:58 PM Well I will say that I use/used Frontpage to make my website and it was very easy to use and did a fine job. Using a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor such as Frontpage, NetObjects, ect do a good job for those that dont want to take the time or effort to learn HTML, DTML, XML ect. Heck for that fact you can use Word, Wordperfect StarOffice and just save your document into HTML format and just FTP it into your site. Sure the coding might be a bit more "bloated" but it's what works for me http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif I did learn some other HTML stuff that I "hard" coded into the pages but I learned it from Frontpage and other sites on the web. For Shareware type apps just visit www.download.com (http://www.download.com) or www.tucows.com (http://www.tucows.com) and run a search for HTML editors You will get a lot of results! [This message has been edited by howste (edited 08-31-2000).] Mntsnow 08-31-2000, 03:01 PM Ohh sure...Find my mistake while I was already editing it! lol BTW. Thanks so much for the tour today! howste 08-31-2000, 03:05 PM You're quite welcome. It was fun meeting you. Steve jbob 09-02-2000, 05:17 AM I also used Frontpage for my site. It was easy to learn, IMO. I had no problems with it at all. I would suggest instead of uploading the site with Frontpage, use a regular FTP program. That is what I do. dennistx 09-05-2000, 06:56 PM Hi, Any opinions on using Hot Dog Pro v5.5 for Web Pages? Thanks Missing the point 09-05-2000, 07:15 PM I am using Dreamweaver right now, and I really like it, and I recommend you try it out. My page (http://www.ocpower.net) was made using Frontpage, but I am editing it with Dreamweaver...... SysOpt 09-05-2000, 09:19 PM We use Unix's pico, and MS's notepad. Two of our staffers use WYSIWYG's but I never have. For images I use Photoshop 5.5. That's about as sexy as it gets, sorry. socalgal 09-05-2000, 09:21 PM Lol http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Steve, I hope Mntsnow related to you my "Hi" - just checking... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif [This message has been edited by socalgal (edited 09-05-2000).] howste 09-05-2000, 10:59 PM Socalgal, he sure did. I hope he sent one back your way too. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Joel Kleppinger 09-05-2000, 11:13 PM Ok, I'll admit it. I'm one of the WYSWIMPS. I started out on Notepad years ago. When FrontPage came out, I didn't like the compliancy and weird things it did with the text. However, I did notice I was FAR faster with it than with any other editor. So now I use FrontPage 98. I've tried Adobe GoLive and Dreamweaver 2, but neither really seemed as easy to mess around with as FP98. However, to clean up the little messes FP98 makes, I use the best editor on the planet (if you don't have it, GET IT). Ultra Edit 32. It's just AWESOME. I do all of my web editing and programming in this app. It's simply a work of art. Try it... you won't go back. http://www.ultraedit.com/ scotter 09-06-2000, 12:23 AM Joel you need to upgrade to FP2000 man it's a lot better and you dont have to have that damg web server running to use it http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif socalgal 09-06-2000, 06:51 PM Ahh, thanks for the verification, Steve. And yes, Mntsnow relayed your "Hi" back to me as well. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif lol SysOpt.com
