It was something like you can use any valid number as the unique number isn't on the disc at all - or something like that. Sorry I can't be more helpful! howste 09-06-2000, 03:54 PM Yes, I remember that thread well: http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/007217.html It looks like Richard_Cranium72's evil twin (DrCorvette) even posted in that thread. Steve Richard_Cranium72 09-06-2000, 04:18 PM Yea, that's a good post, however it don't help this time as the machine it is going on has a hosed HD. All I've got going is a CD. It's quite pretty, not scratches or anything, looks real nice. But, I don't have another 1st edition machine anywhere. Win98 SE, Win98 HP, Win98 IBM, Win98 Tiger, Win95 this and that, WinNT But no generic Win98 1st edition. Just chill everybody, I'll make a call or two and see what I can arrive at.. thanx DrVette ps Howste, DrCorvette isn't my evil twin, Ole Crooked, the evil attorney is. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif drn 09-06-2000, 04:32 PM YGM Richard_Cranium72 09-07-2000, 12:15 AM Can I pull the ID numbers off the Win98 1st editin disc. I've lost the manual with them on it, and you must have them to set up Windows. DrVette SysOpt.com
