Hey Guys,

I just had questions about Windows 2000. What exactly is the difference from Win98? I have heard dual processor support and a neat little feature called IS? (Internet Sharing Something). Will Win2000 allow me to play all the games like Quake2 and Half-Life and add the security of NT? If it does, it sounds like the best of both worlds. Any information is helpful. Thanks!!!!

You bet it will... Although I hear there's some 3dxf driver issues. The TNT's great with it though.

What kind of 3dfx issues are those. This is very important to me because I have an AGP V3 3000.

As in they don't work. The drivers are incompatable. Same with ATI cards; both Win9X and NT drivers. The 2 main problems with Win2k are the lack of supported software and hardware. Otherwise, it's pretty good. The easy of use and multimedia functions of win98, with the stability of NT (still crashes though) Needs more work in my opinion.

It supports fat32 and a very limited plug and play. I installed and had problems with my video card and modem. It did not support three different modems. Even with a Diamond card, previously supported by Nt4.0, I had problems. In many ways it is an improvement buy I don't know if it is for the best or worst. We shall see when it finally arrives in its definite incarnation.

So, I will be able to play my games, but not with 3dfx drivers? The new TNT2 will be my best bet? Also, does anyone know what the Internet sharing is? I have also seen it in the new Windows 98 (version B?). Thanks again guys!

It works great with a TNT2. It also works with a V2. Ive spent hours Quak2ing with W2K on a dual celeron PC. The Dual cpu waasn't really making a difference in Quake2 tho (Q2 is not written to utilize dual cpu's), just helps windows in the area of stability.

The programs sure loaded fast!
