3dmark2001 score has drop significanty

hello there wise people out there i need your help i have a prophet 2 mx which use to get 4600 in 3dmark 2000 and 1400 in 3dmark 2001 , no w i lucky to get between 300 and 417 and i dont no why i have updated the drivers to win9x_21.81 but to no advail i have also trie my original driver and other ones that i have updated since i have got the card but to no avail i am now back to 21.81 driver and also somtimes when i trie to start 3dmark2001 it says somthing like cannot inizisilise the 3d accelarator any help from anyone would appiciated thanks in advance.

thanks for that tip, but i have checked and its is in hardware any other ideas

if you installed the new Det 4's I would recomend completely removing them and going back to the Det 3's (I use the 12.90)

lots of people's score dropped with the new drivers-there really only good for GF 3's.

I had/have the same weird thing with my Elsa GF2, on a Coppermine/BX system with win98. First 3Dmark2001 was 3000, after several month the highest was 2300 and again a few month later the highest It would show was 900. Also game frames where at that point affected (Q3 fps went from 90 - 70). Nothing has changed in driver settings or windows settings, tried older drivers to no avail. Thought I had a virus but no virus was found.

The only thing that helped was a clean install of windows.

Got the 3Dmark initialation error a few times too, said that my card had not enough memory, checked with Sandra and my card had only 8 MB or so. A restart of windows cured that, but still very ought.

I'm curious how long it wil take when all this s**t starts over again.

Thanks for your input bonehead, i think your right and had come to the same conclussion as you concerning clean install, but i will wait a day or two before doing so to see what anyone else comes out with, and also i want to no why its suddenly playing up like this as i sure you do as well. So as to not get a repeat of this again i don't want to keep doing a clean install everytime i have this problem, but thanks again for your reply at least i don't feel like i am the only one getting this problem now.cheers jazzy.

i found out the problem to my low scores i was in my bios and i notice that my agp adapter was 4mb i put it up to 32 mb and now i am getting better more normal scores again thanks everyone for your input jazzy1000:D
