Stu:

I'm taking a guess (of course), but have you considered trying a different power supply in your system? I believe ATX systems maintain a certain flow of electricity, then when booted are given an additional 5V of electricity... I could be way off and if so I'm certain a more knowing member will give you a better / more appropriate answer. Or, something could be wrong with your motherboard, I suppose. Have you tried taking out all but the essential components, i.e., running just the mobo, vidcard, memory, CPU & HSF, and seeing if it will "cold boot?" Then add one card at a time, testing "cold boot" after each addition?

Good luck and keep us posted.

Stu - I need a little more info.

Are you getting any beeps at startup? Any screen activity? Do you have a good surge protector? How new/old is the p/s?

Off the top of my head, try replacing the battery with a new one. You also may want to rummage around in the BIOS to find an option to reset configuration data and do that. Myself, I haven't used that mobo or vid card but did have almost the same problem using an AOpen mobo and GeForce 2MX a few months ago. The problem was the eletrical in the house:( That's after two weeks of troubleshooting a perfectly great system:mad:

Hope this helps:)

Stu -

Dunno what time it is there but in the am here (give me about 8 hours:) ) I'll be able to coherently think - long day:(

If you have another AGP card laying about, try booting with that and see if it still does the same thing.

Brangwen has a great suggestion that you probably already have already tried - boot with the essentials and process of elimination will help.

Anyhoo, gotta sleep and will answer more in the US Am:D

Y'all take care!

Have you tried unplugging the atx power supply plug from the motherboard and reseating it firmly??
