Does the psu have to be AMD-recommended?

im buying a new case for an athlon im soon gonna get. Are there any stability issues if the psu is not amd-recommended?

Certain boards are more particular than others. as in the case with the ECS K7S5A. ?not all boards require a AMD recommended PS, but if you don't already have a PS, you may as well buy one.

Seems some have trouble even with an AMD approved P/S with the ECS K7S5A or other mb's, while others get by with a generic P/S. I seen one guy who reported his K7S5A running on a generic 235w P/S, go figure! I decided to try out my generic 300w and see if it would run the K7S5A and its doin fine so far. I figured I'd upgrade if needed. I've set up the minimum drives and nothing in the PCI slots. Hence, minimum power requirements. If you plan on lots of drives and perif's then of coarse go high end 350w +, otherwise go with the one you got and upgrade later when you need it or it wont work for you.
